Customer support was great
Had a question about layers and got a clear answer the same day. Doesn't happen often.

Stopped working after a firmware update
After the latest update the pad isn't recognised at all. Support suggested a reset, which didn't help. Waiting on a reply.

Coding shortcuts on one hand
Run tests, format file, toggle terminal, go to definition. Keeping my left hand on the pad and right on the mouse works really well.

Good, not magic
It won't change your life, but it will save you a few clicks a hundred times a day. That's worth it to me.

Love the weight
Doesn't move when I hit keys hard. I've had cheaper pads skate across the desk.

Exactly as described
Nothing surprising, in a good way. It arrived quickly and it does what the page says.

Is your Shopify reviews app slowing your product pages?
What shoppers see, and what changed
What shoppers see
Shoppers see the same stars and reviews, and the store keeps using its review app to collect and approve them. What changed is underneath: the reviews are stored in the store's own Shopify admin and built into the page by the theme, so the browser doesn't load the review app's code to show them.
Many Shopify review apps quietly add 50–500 kilobytes of JavaScript and multiple extra HTTP requests to every product page. In an A/B test at the online fashion retailer Zalando, a 100 ms improvement in loading time led to a 0.7% uplift in revenue per session. That's one retailer's test, so I won't turn it into a dollar figure for your store.
Writing a review
Click "Write a Review" and Judge.me's form opens in a new tab. That's intentional: Judge.me still handles submission and moderation. Only the display moved into Shopify.
Submission runs on Judge.me's page, so its form loads only for the visitor who clicks the button, not for everyone who views the product.
¹ Chrome DevTools Network tab, 25 October 2026. Chrome Incognito, no extensions, cache disabled, no throttling, five hard reloads; the request count was the same on all five. I filtered for "judgeme" on a copy of the store's theme with the Judge.me app embed on, then on the live theme with it off, which returned zero matching requests. The count changes when Judge.me ships a new build, so the date matters. On this page the Write a Review button is a plain link and loads no script.
What's in the build
- Built with
- The store's theme, no review-app code
- Review app files added
- 0
- Review app code added
- 0 kB
- Review app scripts on the page
- 0
- Where reviews live
- In the store's own Shopify admin
- Scope
- Text reviews. Photo and video reviews, verified-buyer badges and sending reviews to Google Shopping are separate work.
- What it relies on
- Judge.me, which still collects the reviews, and a sync that copies new ones into the store. No review-app code on the storefront.
- Cost
- The sync ran on Judge.me's free plan on fosterui.com, October 19, 2026.
- Replaces
- Judge.me's storefront embed and blocks, the part that displays reviews.
Trade-offs
- New reviews show up after the next sync. The store decides how often it runs: hourly, daily or weekly.
- The standard build syncs text reviews. Photos, videos and your replies I can build in, quoted separately.
- The review form opens on Judge.me, in a new tab, so its form code loads only for the visitor who clicks.
- The sync runs on GitHub, in an account the store owns, so no server of mine sits between your store and Judge.me. I can run it elsewhere, quoted separately.
Keep going
I measured the review widget on this page.
Every file it loads is counted above; the native display loads none of them. I can build the same display into your store.
